The mosaic floorcommonly known as marquetryis made of strips of wood joined together to form a square or rectangle.
Very popular in the 1970s, it’s back with a vengeance in new designs.
Marquetry has a 7/16-thick sandable part, just like hardwood flooring, 7/16 is the sandable part above the ¾” floor cramps.
It therefore has the same lifespan.
Available in unfinished or prefinished versions, the choice of wood species is rather limited: oak, maple birch
This type of flooring must be glued to the subfloor.
Available in several strip sizes.
