Fabreville to Laval and its history
The Fabreville district owes its name to Monseigneur Édouard-Charles Fabre.
The name was made official in 1968.
It is the second most populous district in Laval.
Fabreville is bordered to the north by the Rivière des Mille-Îles, then by the Chomedey neighborhoods, Laval-OuestSainte-Rose and Sainte-Dorothée.
In 1960, Fabreville lost part of its territory to the town of Sainte-Rose.
The latter took over an area west of the Laurentian Autoroute, establishing it as its new natural boundary.
In 1965, Fabreville was one of the fourteen municipalities that joined forces to become the City of Laval.
More than a quarter of the homes in Fabreville were built in the 70s and 80s, and 45% of the remainder were built between the 80s and 2006.
Among the neighborhood’s attractions are the green spaces along the Rivière des Mille Iles and the Boisé de la Source.
In addition, a 45-hectare forest within the neighborhood is a winter delight for walkers, snowshoers and cross-country skiers.
