  3. Melamine counter-balance (underside) prevents distortion of the flooring and stabilizes the entire laminate strip.

Each of these layers is impregnated with artificial resins (notably melamine resin).

At very high temperatures and under very high pressure, they are pressed onto the core.
Coatings made from artificial resins have been used for decades.
